Dental Hygienist

I’m originally from Bedford, Indiana where most of my family still live. I spent one year at Indiana University Bloomington and the next two years at IU School of Dentistry Indianapolis. I was honored to receive the A. Rebekah Fisk award for outstanding dental hygienist of the year at graduation.

I worked my first years as a dental hygienist in Nashville and Bloomington, then found my way back to Indy. I worked in both general and periodontal practices then during a transition between offices I found myself as a substitute hygienist at Dr. Jack Nicewander’s office. I started that day November 20, 2001 as a temp and knew immediately I’d found my dental home. Wow, 20+ years in one practice and 30+ years total as a dental hygienist, makes me feel old!! During those first years with Dr. Jack I did go back to IUSD to get my Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene. This allowed me to experience teaching dental hygiene students, interesting, and very rewarding. In the following years there’s been a lot of changes; new staff, technology, patients, dentists and most importantly new friends. There is nothing more rewarding than helping make someone’s day a little better. Ultimately helping my patients get and keep a healthy smile is my main focus, but I so value the relationships that have developed  and grown over the years.

In my free hours I love reading, cooking, gardening and especially spending time with my awesome husband, John. Together we enjoy spending time with our friends and family, cheering on the Colts and traveling. Every chance we get we try to get away, Key West will always be at the top of that list!
